Excuse our absence.  We have been on vacation and a speaking engagement for one of the state OSHA plans.  This will cover those individuals we know about to this point for January, February and March 2013.  Again, we receive our names in a different manner than previous so understand we don't have names as current as we wish.  The location listed is not necessarily the worker's hometown.

JANUARY 2013

January 3 -  Marysville, WA - 67 year old Gary Anderson of Monroe died of natural causes when he collapsed while working at a warehouse for Whitley Evergreen, Inc. 

January 4 - Mount Vernon, WA - 32 year old Michael Rongey from Maple Valley, WA died when he fell approximately 80 feet from a cell tower. He was wearing fall protection but there was a failure at the anchor point.  He was employed by W.S. Consulting & Construction, Inc. 

January 10 - Tacoma, WA - Lane Loop died while working at the Tacoma Dome when he was seen falling down several rows of seats.  Authorities believe he died of a possible heart attack.

January 11 - Connell, WA - 32 year old Yan Garayquipialaya was killed when he was struck from behind while riding an off-road vehicle on Highway 260.  He was employed with C & L Lockers, a sheep/goat farming business.  Washington State Patrol is investigating.


January 16 - Arlington, WA -  58 year old Lamont Killian of Concrete, WA was found deceased inside his assigned vehicle when he could not be located to start his shift.  It appears his death was from natural causes.  He was employed with Smokey Point Distributing, Inc. 


FEBRUARY 2013

February 1 - Pasco, WA - 38 year old Brent Peterson died of natural causes while delivery of newspapers on his route.  He was discovered inside his vehicle that was stopped just off the edge of the roadway.  He was employed by McClatchy Newspapers, Inc. dba Tri City Herald.

MARCH 2013

March 1 - Spokane, WA - 40 year old Max Talley of Medical Lake died of asphyxia when toxic fumes built up inside a trailer he was sleeping in.  He did fashion a ventilation system but it failed.  He was returning from an auction after making a purchase.  He was employed by GB Auctions, Inc. dba DAA Northwest.

March 6 - Silverdale, WA - Paul Stewart was found unresponsive at his desk and died of a probably heart attack.  He was Volunteer Coordinator Training Officer for Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue.

March 12 - Tacoma, WA - 46 year old Jeff Surber of Bonney Lake, WA was killed on the job when he was crushed between parts of a Container Gantry Crane.  He was working at Pierce County Terminal for Pacific Crane Maintenance Company.


March 25 - Tacoma, WA -   57 year old Dana Gorham of East Spanaway died of natural causes while working on reefer units of a shipping container.  He was employed by Pacific Crane Maintenance Co.
